Jack Vettriano

Jack Vettriano was born in Scotland in 1951 and left school at sixteen to become a mining engineer. For his twenty-first birthday Vettriano received a set of watercolour paints from his girlfriend and, from then on, Jack Vettriano spent much of his spare time teaching himself to paint. The local art gallery, The Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery, with its renowned collection of 19th and 20th century Scottish paintings, was particularly inspirational for Jack.

Over the last twenty years, interest in and awareness of Vettriano's work has grown consistently. There have been sell-out solo exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong and New York.
