Who are we?
The Real Art Company are a group of art lovers.
We have a London office in an old warehouse by the side of a canal, where we research and publish art from all over the world. We work with artists here to develop their art, and reproduce images to the highest quality so that we can make prints for you.
We also have a big shiny print farm in Wellingborough, UK, where our ‘ink monkeys’, as they call themselves, use over two decades of hands-on printing experience to carefully turn blank pieces of paper and canvas into works of art of all shapes and sizes. From here the artwork is sent out to our customers’ all over the world.
So that you get to know us a little better, we’ll regularly introduce you to our staff and their favourite artwork. Check out the latest staff picks.
Our art prints
Each art print is individually created as a bespoke item upon your request. Our Art on Demand process means that your art print is created using the very latest digital printing technology.
All our art prints are produced with a combination of superlative materials to ensure a rich, vibrant, true reproduction of image.
Fine art prints are created on high quality paper ensuring both vibrancy of colour and fine-point detail. The size quoted for print paper is the external dimension of the paper that includes white borders around the image area. The mounted and framed prints have additional depth at the bottom border to create visual balance.
Giclée art prints on canvas will be printed directly onto a traditional artist's cotton canvas that has been coated with the very latest in surface technology; ensuring both vibrancy of colour and fine-point detail. It also guarantees that the art prints will not fade for at least 100 years. Canvas print orders are then mounted for you onto a stretcher frame-work ready to hang.
All of our art frames are custom created from the highest quality mouldings selected by our in-house stylist. A number of the framed images have an accompanying ivory mount with a clean bevelled aperture to complement or accentuate the proportions of the artwork. Our frames are manufactured using selected timber, sourced from managed forests around the world, in contemporary profiles. Specialist finishes are then applied to the wood in order to complement the full range of artworks. All framed art prints arrive ready to hang on your wall.
All our art prints are manufactured in Britain to exacting standards and in excellent workplace conditions, using materials sourced locally. That way, we know that everybody wins.
Both media choices, no matter which size of art print that you choose, are carefully packaged to ensure safe and secure delivery by courier directly to your door.
Meet Graeme
For those of you who love the details, here are a few words from Graeme, our print farm manager, about the process once an order has been placed;
"After your order is received it enters our bespoke print management system. Your order generates a demand on the Print Farm 24 hours a day, we process thousands of prints each day so whatever the time of day or night the workflow is ready for your art to hit the presses. Each piece passes through a series of disciplined Quality assured processes that ensure your print is treated with a level of care and reverence that it deserves. We have a team of 12 printers and finishers that have experience spanning over two decades of hands on print knowledge in all sectors of the print industry. Their former knowledge in digital, flexo, screen, web, gravure and lithography are assets that we draw from in the process of ink onto substrate.
We pride ourselves in having recruited and trained the best print operatives around and use their experience to enrich our operation. Our ink monkeys, as they call themselves, go for the top banana – every time.
We have invested heavily in staying at the forefront of print technology and our wide format giclee print machines are the best around. We stress test all our machinery because our printers will not settle for something that’s good enough. It has to be the best. Likewise, our colour management processes are the envy of our imitators. From scanning, proofing, and printing we control colour reproduction to the industry FOGRA 39 standard. We developed our systems with world leaders in colour management, allowing us to explore the limits of current capabilities, whilst pushing research into greater colour control across multiple production platforms.
We respect the artists work, we understand that they would expect nothing less than the finest reproduction of their work and you, as a customer, should expect to receive a product that fairly reflects this effort."
Graeme Laws, print farm manager
