Artist Studio

The Real Art Company are thrilled to open the doors to our new artist studio offering art professionals a new Giclee print service.

This studio is dedicated to reproducing art at the highest possible standard using the very latest technology. We have a team of nine highly experienced retouchers and art workers who have been working with the most demanding customers for the last twenty years to deliver excellence. Our clients include: Tate, MoMA, SFMoMA, The Smithsonian Institute, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, alongside a list of highly respected private clients.

Image Capture

Every print process starts with the capture. If it’s transparencies or negatives we’ll drum scan them using our Heidelberg scanner. If it’s original artwork or a print we use cutting edge image scanning technology with the Cruse synchron system. This allows us to capture up to 500Mb from originals up to 225cm X 150cm with incredible detail and clarity. The Cruse scanner has a variable lighting system, which means we can capture the shape and relief in an original oil painting or 3D object. Coupled with custom ICC colour profiles and years of extensive experience it’s as good as scanning gets. If you’re supplying your own files they will enter into our fully ICC managed workflow.

Retouching

From simple colour correction, to full restoration of severely damaged originals. We’ve got a team of nine retouchers and artworkers to take on the toughest brief, whether you want to stay here and print by direction, or leave us to it. We start the process with a proof on your chosen substrate - not some generic proofing media - then discuss the possibilities with you. Every aspect of the print production process at The Real Art Company is tightly colour managed. Our operators use the best Eizo screens, colorimeters and spectrophotometers.

Giclee Printing

Fifty large format HP Z6100 and Epson 9800 printers, all driven by GMG RIP and colour management technology. Every printer is calibrated daily, all this data is fed into our GMG Colour Server which updates every printer profile. The repeatability from one print to the next is peerless. A wide range of fine art papers and canvasses are available. If you want a substrate we don’t stock it’s not a problem; we’ll profile it, test it and produce your prints on it. We use pigmented ink and archival substrates, so your print will last a lifetime. We can also coat with UV cure laminate if you require.

Stretching and Framing

We can stretch your canvas to custom sizes and profiles. Our framing department offers volume-framing services with a wide variety of mouldings, liners, fillets and mounts.
